Book on Social Co-creation Launched
Chennai, December 21, 2011:
Mr E Balaji, Managing Director & CEO, Ma Foi Randstad, India’s largest human resource services company, has today launched The Co-creation Roadmap: Six Steps to Tap the Wisdom of Crowds, a book on socia co-creation, authored by Mr G Sankaranarayanan, CEO, Younomy, a co-creation consulting firm. He presented the first copy of the book to Mr A J Balasubramanian, President, Forum for Co-creation Excellence, a not-for profit association of practitioners of co-creation, and Director, CareVoyant Technologies.
The book was published by Aazhi Port, a division of Aazhi Publishers, Chennai. The book has 136 pages, and is priced at Rs 195 for the Indian market. The digital version of the book is made available for free to read at Issuu.com.
Speaking at the book launch event here, Mr Balaji said that the companies representing all sizes and sectors are required to create a strong social presence using social media tools and platforms such as Facebook, Google Plus, and Twitter so as to understand the market needs and develop one to one relationship with customers and other external stakeholders. Gone are the days, product design and business decisions are made in an unilateral way. Today, producers and customers need to join hands right at the stage of conception of products and services and continue to maintain transparent and engaging relationships throughout the business life cycle.
Talking about the book’s theme, Mr Sankaranarayanan, said that the purpose of the book is not to present a ready made, once size fits all formula for social co-creation success but an ideation framework for companies to evolve their own social strategies for co-creation. The book’s P6 ideation framework (based on six Ps of priority, participation, problem, project, platform, and promotion) urges companies to focus on the following six important steps for social co-creation:
1) Priority: Identify the co-creation hot spots - the areas that meet the interests of business and society
2) Participation: Create co-creation boards: internal teams with clear mandate, training, and responsibilities to engage with stakeholders using social media
3) Problem: Set up the “problem walls”, that is, spaces where internal and external stakeholders can express the issues they face
4) Project: Convert problems into projects such as idea contests, and developer challenges
5) Platform: Create a platform bazaar, multiple social media and real world platforms to generate ideas from the stakeholders, and
6) Promotion: Come with right incentives including cash prizes, socialising opportunities, visibility, etc for the co-creators/web participants
The book comes with relevant business cases, interviews of experts, and insights into the social media strategies of successful global companies. For the benefit of the digital readers, the entire book content is made available for free at the Issuu.com portal.
Mr Gaurav Bhalla, author: Collaboration and Co-creation: New Platforms for Marketing and Innovation, had penned the foreword for the book, while Mr Ram S Ramanathan, author and business coach, provided the afterword.
